On June 3, 2010 Ronald Gagnon passed away at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida at the young age of 63. Ron was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed showing off his cars and Corvettes at car shows, which showed by his garage over flowing with the many trophies he won. Ron and his neighbor who lives right across the street, John Cassetta, and who runs the Hot Chili Rods Car Club thought it would be a nice tribute if after Ron’s demise all the local cars clubs would come to his interment in there Hot Rods. So on Tuesday June 8, 2010 at noon at the funeral home, Ron got his final wish, everyone arrived in their cars and t-shirts marked the Hot Chili Rods, the Corvettes on the Gulf, and the Corvettes of Naples. They kept coming and coming until there were about 120 cars ready to make the Police escorted drive out to the Coral Ridge Cemetery, the procession had to be a mile long. Ron had been a Chief Petty Officer USN retired and his interment was held with full Military Honors. After the services everyone was invited back to Ron’s house for a memorial reception with food and drink sponsored by the Hot Chili Rods Car Club. I think as always the pictures tell the storey more than any words can.
