If this young readers name sounds familiar it might be because her brother JD’s Chevy 4x4 was the very first young Reader’s Ride vehicle to be featured in Cruisin’ Style Magazine. Jordan Deramus is a 16 year old Junior at  Mena High School and like her brother she works part time at Street & Performance. Jordan plans to attend college at either Henderson University or the University of Central Arkansas and major in English with the goal of becoming a teacher. For the time being she is busy in high school with activities like; historian for FCCLA, member of Fellowship of Christian Students, Spanish Club, A-Team and the Teen Council. Jordan’s other interests include being a big supporter of the Mena “Bearcat” football team and when not watching the home team she is busy watching the Dallas Cowboys. Between school and its activities, hanging out with friends or out 4-wheeling you wouldn’t think she had time for anything else until you see what she drives to school, a tricked out ’84 Chevy truck.
With her family living in Mena, Arkansas and who almost all work at Street & Performance it is no wonder that Jordan is really into performance cars and trucks. Jordan’s truck was her 16th birthday present that came to what it looks like thanks to the hard work of family and friends.
The 1984 Chevy Silverado project started in June of 2007 as a roller with no motor or trans but Jordan knew where she could get a really good deal on them. Eight months later Jordan was ready to start cruising and showing the guys that girls could have cool rides too.
The Chevy now packs a punch under the hood in the form of a dressed to thrill or kill Chevy Ramjet 350 pumping out 350 horsepower. The motor sports Street & Performance chromed/polished brackets, pulleys, valve covers, injection air cleaner and a pair of polished Brodix heads. All of this show and go is hooked up to a GM 4L60 transmission that is good for play or cruising. The sharp looking paint and body work was handled by Codi Lopez, George Page and Jeff McCartney. The colors are a winning combination of PPG basecoat clearcoat with the base colors being Intense Pearl Blue and Viper Silver Metallic. The tire and wheel combination is made up of Billet Specialties mounted with Nitto Extreme tires, 8x18 mounted with 245/45/18 front and 10x18 mounted with 285/40/18 on the rear. The interior has been updated thanks to Danny Deramus (Dad), Cody Lopez, Kustom Auto Interior and the sound system installed by big brother JD.
Jordan’s license plate seems to sum it all up, life is to short to drive slow cars. Jordan we wish you the best in the pursuit of further education in college and under the hood of your truck. Keep smiling and keep on Cruisin’ in Style. If you are ever in Mena make a point of stopping by Street & Performance to visit with Jordan and the rest of her great family and tell them Cruisin’ Style sent you.
